Can you remember your first Thanksgiving? Do you remember the joy and happiness you experienced with your family while partaking in a delectable dinner? Well believe it or not, this reality is a dream for many kids who grow up in less fortunate households.
For many runaway, homeless and displaced youth and families, the joys of Thanksgiving are often overshadowed by their needs. They don’t have Moms and Dads who can afford the necessities to feed their families. Thanksgiving is just another day. A day other people get hyped about and they can only dream of. You see, life isn’t so easy when you are a low-income inner-city child or a homeless youth.
On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021, Joy Baltimore will host its 5th Annual “Oh Give Thanks” Dinner, and this year’s theme is “Oh Give Thanks 2021 – Blessed We’re Still Here”. This event will take place at 6 East Lafayette Avenue, in Baltimore, Maryland. For one night, we want the homeless, displaced and runaway youth ages 13 to 24 in this community to really, really, experience Thanksgiving on blast. That means a complete Thanksgiving feast, music, entertainment, and fun. Last year, we were able to provide hot meals, toiletries, coats and outreach services to 600 youth and their families. This year, our goal is to reach 1000 people.
We are requesting your support in providing monetary, food items and gift cards that can be used to aid us in purchasing the necessary items for the dinner. All items to be given are due by Thanksgiving Day, November 10, 2020. All items to be given are due by Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021.
